Wall
"Two years ago, an employee found my father hanged from a post in the garage he owned…
…After my father died, I started to envision my body confined within one of the walls of the garage.
I also envisioned my father coming out from inside the wall to hug me." ( From my notes, New York, May 2009. )
Wall is a participatory performance inspired by the memories left by the absence of our loved ones. In Wall, when the spectators approached the performers, the performers held the hands of the spectators, and started dancing. Visually, during the dance, the white paint over the performers body and the paint on the museum’s walls merged together, evoking the disappearance of the performers. Each participant member from the audience as such appeared to be dancing with himself, with his memories and desires.
The soundtrack for Wall was created in collaboration with the music group Ravalias.
